What to Expect During Your Kitchen or Bath Remodel

To help ensure quality work, Cook's Kitchen and Bath, Inc. offers the following helpful tips.

1. You will not have use of your kitchen for at least two weeks. Usually a total of six from start to finish of construction is necessary and depending on client selection.
   
2. Plan on eating out or BBQ, toaster/microwave.
   
3. Set up a table in another part of your home for such things as cereal, coffeepot, toaster, etc. Use paper plates, bowls, cups, plastic silverware and paper towels to get you through. Your refrigerator will still be available but not like you are used to using to using it. It may be relocated to the garage or nearby room.
   
4. There will be a lot of dust. We will do our best to keep the area closed-off (i.e. tenting) but dust tends to permeate throughout the house.
   
5. Plan on removing everything from your cabinets prior to demolition. We will give you advance notice of when this will need to be completed (give yourself several days to do this). Put your dishes, pots, pans, etc. into boxes. Organize items by those you won't need at all vs. those you may want to access. You may want to get the plastic containers with lids for your food items and don't "stock up on food" before the remodel. It is easier not to have to pack them up.
   
6. If you work out of your home plan on either working at the office, or at another location during the days when construction and installation is taking place.

Please be patient and understand this process will be well worth the wait when you are enjoying your new kitchen for many, many years to come.

Pre-Planning

1. Before you embark on your remodel project, identify likes and dislikes from pictures in magazines, brochures, etc.
2. Think about styles and colors.
3. Calculate a budget for the project.

1st Meeting
We will discuss the general overview of the project and will review your:

1. Ideas
2. Likes, dislikes
3. Budget - what is included
4. Any structural changes
5. New windows and window treatments

Steps

1. Selection of appliances
2. Selection of cabinet door styles, wood species and stains, details & cabinet accessories, tilt-outs, roll-outs, pantry doors and/or crown molding.
3. Selection of counter tops (granite, solid surface, etc.)
4. Selection of sink(s), faucet(s) and accessories.
5. Selection of flooring
6. Selection of lighting
7. Drafting of new plan with selections included
8. Pricing new plan
9. Review and revisions of proposed plan.
10. Contracts signed and deposits received.
11. Orders are placed
12. Construction (if any)
13. Rough lighting (if construction needed)
14. Demo: Cabinet tear-out, counters and flooring, rough lighting (if no prior construction)
15. New cabinet installation, appliances installed (Plumber needed)
16. Counter top templates made or tile installed.
17. Counters installed
18. Sinks, faucets, hot water dispenser, filtered water dispenser, etc. installed.
19. Lighting fixtures installed
20. Flooring installed
21. Punch list
22. MOVE BACK IN AND ENJOY!
